Justin Bieber gets a "Best Album" nomination...David Bowie..DOES NOT!! This is a voting population that gave Jethro Tull a Best Metal Grammy in 1989 over Metallica. You'd think that they would know that if which they vote on.....but...this is the Grammys. Also...Beyonce is up for "Best Rock Performance". That's right...Beyonce.. So..what you are telling that out of all the rock performances of AN ENTIRE YEAR...this is what you come up with.'s just criminal.
This year many ICONIC classic hits artists released music that could have been up for nomination:
The Rolling Stones
Paul Simon
Neil Young
Elton John
Eric Clapton
and none of those artists could be nominated for "Best Rock Performance?" they just put a bunch of artists on a dart board and then whatever ones they hit are nominated?? It's ludicrous....not Ludacris....although..he might be nominated for best metal performance...who knows!!??

20 years ago...when 97.5 CIZ FM...moved from Gifford St. Road to Mullin St. and ..then turned to 93.5 CIZ FM...the On Air staff were given their pick of all the records. It was like Christmas day. I sat..Indian style on the front of a massive pile of vinyl. I have over 50 albums from that day. All my heroes of rock and roll...Van Halen...Montrose...Zeppelin....Aerosmith...Ozzy ...Foreigner..GNR...Rush...Journey...the list goes on and on... With the prices of vinyl today..I would guess I have over 2k..just in that box. They are priceless to me. The studio they came from is where I started my dream job.

Classic Hits that stand the test of time......
I recently took a vacation to Myrtle Beach. I took in a minor league baseball game and I got to thinking...all the songs that get the crowd pumped up are Classic Hits!!
I heard the mother of all stadium anthems: "We Will Rock You" from Queen. People from 8 to 80 where stomping their feet and clapping their hands.
Next came "Welcome to the Jungle" from Guns N Roses. A song that instantly puts the crowd in a frenzy.
Still more from AC/DC..."Thunderstruck" , "Black Betty" from Ram Jam, "The Final Countdown" from Europe and "Rock You Like a Hurricane" from the Scorpions.
These Classic Hits are timeless and will be played at sporting evens for as long as they have P.A. systems!! Next time you go to a sporting event,  keep track of the songs they play. Chances are we play them right here on Classic Hits Z93!!

Going out gracefully.....

Don't listen to the critics!!!

I just watched the best concert that I've ever seen!!!

Music: What it means to me
I don't remember a time when I wasn't obsessed with music. I remember getting my allowance from my parents and going to the record store to buy 45s and cassettes. The first album I remember having a profound effect on me was Journey's Escape. Songs like the title track, "Stone in Love" and, of course, "Don't Stop Believin'" take me back to a time of innocence and excitement.
Music is a very powerful part of my life. Music can pump me up, calm me down, make me think, bring me to tears, or make me laugh. A song has the power to bring you to the exact moment when you first heard it. That moment can make you feel many different ways. A world without music is not a world I want to live in.
When I was a little boy, if my parents wanted me to sit still for any length of time, they would put music on the record player. Back then it was Elton John, The Doobie Brothers, Steppenwolf, and Billy Joel. I think those days may have laid the groundwork for me wanting to be on the radio.
Music got me to listen to the radio. I would try to see what far away stations I could pick up. Some nights it would be New York City, Boston, or even St. Louis. I always wanted to be the person playing music and talking about it on the radio.
I am passionate about music knowledge. I love to know about bands, lyrics, why a song was written, and how a band got together. I have been told that I am many people's "phone a friend" if they ever get on that game show.
Music brought me to the radio and there is no place that I would rather be.
